MRS. JOHN BURNS. 84
CALVARY.

An earthly sojourn of unusual length and usefulness for Mrs. John Burns, 84, of Calvary, came to a close about noon last Saturday, Dec. 29th, when the infirmities of age brought about her death, at her home. She had been virtually an invalid for several years, and, although her death was not unexpected, it brought sadness to the hearts of many relatives and friends. She had borne her suffering with unusual patience and fortitude.

The funeral was held at the Calvary Methodist Church at 2:30 p.m. Sunday and burial followed in the McNair cemetery. Rev. J. M. C. Ward, of the Calvary and Attapulgus churches, her pastor, and Forsyth Bros. Funeral Home were in charge. Pallbearers were W. O. McNair, Macon, Arthur Beckwith, Maston and Leo Harrison, Joe and Corry McNair.

Mrs. Burns was the daughter of the late William Green and Nancy Higdon McNair and was born at Calvary Sept. 20th, 1861, in the outset of the War Between the States. Surviving the war and reconstruction era, she married Mr. Burns Sept. 13th, 1888, and lived a life of outstanding service in her family, church and community, loved by all who were privileged to share the radiance of her long life.

Immediate survivors include her husband; a son, R. L. Burns, Orlando, Fla; a brother, Byron H. McNair, prominent Calvary leader; and a sister, Mrs. B. O. Harrison, Calvary. Mrs. Lester Barlow, of Miami, is a grand-daughter.17,4,5

She was buried on 30 Dec 1945 in McNair Family Cemetery, Calvary, Grady Co., GA.4,18
