This doesn't seem to fit into the life of our Abner, who had a further preaching career and died in 1898; only the names and location in the county adjacent to his home seem relevant.6 Abner R. Callaway was enumerated as Head of Household in the census of 1870 in La Grange, Troup Co., GA, with others in the household: Sarah Jane Howard.7

Abner R. Callaway married Mary Wilbourn Ely on 24 Jun 1879 in Wilkes Co., GA. The Washington Gazette is in Washington, Wilkes Co., the title for the items is Wilkes-Wise, and the item says "in this county."8 Abner R. Callaway was enumerated as Head of Household in the census of 1880 in La Grange, Troup Co., GA, with others in the household: Mary Wilbourn Ely (his 2nd wife.)9
