Supply Co., 16 N. Forsyth Street in Atlanta, Fulton Co., GA.1 He was enumerated in the census of 1920 in Atlanta, Fulton Co., GA, in the household of Leila Elder (his sister.)10 Eugene Boykin Elder was enumerated as Head of Household in the census of 1930 in Knoxville, Knox Co., TN, with others in the household: Margaret Borthwick and Frances L. Williams.11

Eugene was a physician. Eugene had quite a medical career, moving from hospital to hospital. He started out in Macon, GA, at the Macon Hospital, as an intern, and then went on to become Superintendent. He was at Georgia Baptist Hospital in Atlanta, GA (1921-1927), and then New Morell Hospital in Lakeland, FL (1928).

He and Margaret went to General Hospital in Knoxville TN in 1928 and they were in the Knoxville City Directory in 1929 and 1930. She died in 1931. Eugene married Frances in 1932. He and Frances are listed in the Knoxville City Directory in 1934 and 1935. From there, he and Frances moved to Erlanger Hospital in Chattanooge, TN, where they appear in directories from 1935 to 1941. He resigned from there in 1942 and retired. They spent the summer in a cottage in Fairview, NC, and then moved on to an apartment in Miami, FL.

He was coaxed out of retirement, moving, in 1944, to St. Augustine, FL, and the Flagler Hospital. They were still in St. Augustine in 1947. In 1951, they are found in Daytona Beach, FL, and stayed at least until 1960.14,15,16 He was enumerated as Head of Household in the census of 1950 in Volusia Co., FL, with others in the household: Frances L. Williams.17 The obituary of Leila Elder named Eugene Boykin Elder, brother/s, as surviving, 14 Aug 1963.18
