Abel Laney Funderburk died on 15 Jul 1872 in Decatur Co., GA, at age 70.12,7,6,13 He was buried in 1872 in Brinson Cemetery, Brinson, Decatur Co., GA.14

“Abel and Tressie are buried in a Methodist Church Cemetery, where a new marker was placed at their graves in recent years by a grandson, Ed G. Funderburk.” Since I did not find a grandson with this name, I decided to find out just who this was. I was able to determine that it was George Edward Funderburk, a GREAT-grandson of Abel Laney. This was confirmed by George Edward's daughter, Zita, who told me that her father had the markers placed in Brinson Cemetery.15
