Drury Roberts Sr.

     According to family history, the Roberts family came from Wales and settled in VA, later moving to the Carolinas and then to GA. Before the Revolution, Drury, Sr. was living in Queensborough District of St. George Parish, GA, from which Burke Co. was formed in 1777. He served as a Lieutenant of a company of Militia in that district and also as a soldier of the Georgia line.
He married Rachel about 1778, moving to the Montgomery- Wilkinson Co. area circa 1797 and was found in Laurens Co. at its formation in December, 1807. After Drury's death circa 1820, Rachel moved to Early Co. with some of her children, probably with Drury, Jr. and William in 1821. She died there sometime after 1837. Drury Roberts Sr. was born circa 1753.1

Drury Roberts Sr. served in the Revolutionary War.2
